Evidence keeps the conversation anchored to work that can change.<\/p><p>Separate intent from impact. Someone can mean well and still create a problem that needs to be addressed.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"feedback-timing\">Choose a useful time and setting<\/h2>\n<p>Give routine feedback close enough to the event that details remain clear. Use a private setting for corrective conversations and allow enough time for the person to respond.<\/p><aside class=\"cbr-note\"><strong>Urgent is not the same as immediate<\/strong>If emotions are high, pause long enough to prepare facts and decide the outcome the conversation needs.<\/aside>\n<h2 id=\"feedback-dialogue\">Make it a conversation<\/h2>\n<p>Ask what the person noticed, what influenced their decision and what they would do differently. Their answer may reveal missing information, conflicting priorities or a process problem.<\/p><p>Listening does not remove accountability. It makes the next action better informed and more likely to work.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"feedback-action\">Agree one clear next action<\/h2>\n<p>Translate the discussion into a specific behaviour, standard or result. Confirm the support available and when the change will be reviewed.<\/p><table class=\"cbr-check\"><thead><tr><th>Less useful<\/th><th>More useful<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Be more proactive<\/td><td>Raise a delivery risk as soon as the deadline is likely to move<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Communicate better<\/td><td>Send the decision and owner after each client call<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Great job<\/td><td>Your summary made the decision and next step easy to find<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n<h2 id=\"feedback-habit\">Build feedback into ordinary work<\/h2>\n<p>Do not save every discussion for an annual review. Short, proportionate feedback after real work makes expectations easier to understand and reduces surprises.<\/p><ul><li>Use evidence<\/li><li>Explain the impact<\/li><li>Invite context<\/li><li>Agree the next action<\/li><li>Follow up<\/li><\/ul><p>The aim is not to win a conversation.
