It cannot show whether people follow it, whether handovers work or whether customers receive a consistent outcome.<\/p><p>Begin by asking what the process is meant to achieve, which risks could prevent that outcome and what evidence would demonstrate effective control.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"audit-scope\">Choose scope according to risk<\/h2>\n<p>Auditing every process with the same frequency wastes attention. Use complaints, changes, previous findings, supplier performance and business priorities to decide where a closer look will add value.<\/p><aside class=\"cbr-note\"><strong>Small scope, useful depth<\/strong>Following one customer order from enquiry to delivery often reveals more than reviewing a folder of procedures.<\/aside>\n<h2 id=\"audit-evidence\">Follow evidence across the real workflow<\/h2>\n<p>Interview the people doing the work, observe a sample, review records and compare practice with the organisation\u2019s own requirements. Evidence should be sufficient to support the finding without turning the audit into surveillance.<\/p><p>Independence matters. ISO and IAF guidance notes that audits should be carried out by competent people who can provide an objective view of the activity.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"audit-findings\">Write findings people can use<\/h2>\n<p>A good finding identifies the requirement, the evidence and the gap. It avoids blame and describes the operational effect. Separate nonconformity from observation and improvement opportunity so priorities remain clear.<\/p><p>Agree an owner, due date and proportionate action. Correcting one record is not enough when the cause sits in training, workflow design or unclear responsibility.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"audit-cycle\">Close the loop<\/h2>\n<p>Follow up to confirm that action was completed and effective.
